Current NBL & Associates, LLC President and CEO of consulting firm specializing in community relations, education programs and training programs. Worked for McLaren Hospital Riley Foundation. Retired executive from Chrysler Corporation with over 30 years’ experience in Education Programs, Civic and Community Relations and Public Relations/Executive Communications.
Here are a few of Nellie’s abundant career accomplishments: Managing Pontiac Promise Zone education program, qualifying eligible middle and high school students for a free college scholarship. In addition, working with religious and community leaders, education professionals and education providers to provide supplemental services for students; Directed, coordinated, and managed first “Real McCoy” fundraiser for Detroit Area Pre-College Education Program (DAPCEP). Fundraiser brought together 300 business, community, political and professional leaders and is DAPCEP’S signature fundraiser recognizing community and business high achievers in the area of STEMM and highlighting students. This event also recognizes businesses that support ongoing programing through grants and mentorships to the organization to ensure success of the organization in the future; Branded DAPCEP “Real McCoy” fundraiser event with new logo recognizing S.T.E.M.M. careers with awards ceremony for high achievement in their fields of expertise. In addition, student awardees are recognized for their accomplishments and interest in S.T.E.M.M.; Elected Board Chair of Communities in Schools of Detroit, a community-based organization that delivers after-school programs for students in Wayne County Michigan. As Board Chair, managed the executive director, who manages a $19 million budget for education and community programs; Managed and spearheaded senior level assignments, meetings, projects, presentations, speeches and events for the Senior Vice President of External Affairs & Public Policy who oversaw Civic & Community Relations, Government Affairs and The Chrysler Foundation with a total of $20M+ operating and philanthropic budget.
Currently board member of International Technology Academy (ITA) Initiatives Foundation Board Member and the Pontiac Promise Board. Past board appointments in Communities in Schools of Detroit—Board Chair; Detroit School of the Arts—Board Member; Great Lakes Chapter of the Links, Inc. – Financial Secretary; McLaren Hospital, Riley Foundation—Board Member; Matrix Human Services – Chair Matrix Quality Care. Nellie has received numerous awards for her community involvement: Governor’s Recognition Award for Outstanding Career Focused Program (State of Michigan); Essence Award for Community Outreach; Woman of Color Award for Leadership in Corporate Community Relations and Education; Spirit of Detroit Award for Outstanding Community Service.
Nellie holds a Bachelors, Marketing and Business Management, Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI M.S. - Education Leadership, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI as well as Boston College - School of Corporate Social Responsibility Certification and Points of Light College (Corporate Volunteer Programs) – Certificate of Completion. Nellie currently lives in Bloomfield, MI with her family.
