First Robotics World Championship

The Pontiac School District’s Robotics team was able to compete this past week in Houston, Texas at the FIRST Robotics World Championship.  We competed with high school teams from around the world including Mexico, Canada, Israel, Australia, and of course from all over the USA.  Making the World Championship put our team in the top 12% of robotics teams worldwide and our performance at the World Championship placed us in the top 3% as we made the playoffs this past Saturday.

The students had a great time competing, cheering, meeting people from all over the world, and exploring a little around Houston.  We even got to eat at a real Texas pit bbq.  Two sets of our parents even made the 20-hour drive to come and support the students which was such a welcomed surprise.

We want to thank all of our sponsors at General Motors, APTIV, Ford, BAE, the ITA Foundation, the Pontiac School District & Board of Education as well as our hard-working mentors and teachers (Mrs. Anne Nitoski, Mrs. Kristin Treman, & Mr. Mike Motzny).

A special thank you to our Alumni mentors who have graduated from Pontiac Central, Pontiac Northern, Pontiac High School, and ITA.  Josh Murphy (PCH), Justin Hawke (PNH), Sam Slade (PCH), Jeremy Bowie (PNH), Jerry Ratliff (PCH), Lillian Evans-Cintron (PHS), & Benjamin Slade (ITA).  It is amazing to see our students return home as successes and return the rewards of our robotics program to a new generation.

We are so blessed to have a long and storied history in the world of robotics right here in the Pontiac School District.

Thank you all for your support and well wishes and we will continue to do our best to make everyone proud!
