Brenda Arroyo Causey-Mitchell was born and is a lifelong resident in the City of Pontiac. She has had both a successful professional and political career. She is a retired government employee of approximately 30 years; former Appointee of the Mayor (in charge of Management Affairs) for eight (8) years; elected official for twelve (12) years (i.e., as a School Board Trustee,  School Board President, and Oakland County Commissioner); and first Black Female Chair of the Democratic Caucus for Oakland County.

She possesses a master’s degree in educational leadership, along with an Administrator’s Certification from Central Michigan University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business Leadership, an associate degree in business administration and a two-year Certificate from Pontiac Business Institute.

On November 1, 2021, Brenda retired from a second career from the School District of the City of Pontiac as a Central Office Administrator, Director of Project Excel and as Co-Chairperson for the Pontiac Schools Partnership Coalition. She continues to serve as a board member for the Pontiac Alumni Foundation; a Board Member Emeritus for Pontiac Youth Assistance; and, as a board member and Executive Director for the International Technology Academy Initiatives Foundation. She is the CEO of the Causey Group, LLC. For twenty (20) years, she has serves as Church Administrator for Victory Apostolic Church, Tabernacle Ministries (One Church – Multiple Locations). In December of 2022, Brenda was ordained as Administrative Pastor for Tabernacle Ministries.
